.KEY MESSAGES...

Friday morning
- Pattern change with chances for largely beneficial rain next
week

.SHORT TERM...
Issued at 1022 AM PDT Thu Mar 26 2026
(This afternoon through Friday)
Gusty winds will persist today and tonight into Friday morning
across portions of the interior North Bay Mountains with an
offshore fetch. The downslope component of the winds will have a
slightly warmer influence on temps in Sonoma Valley and Napa
Valley this afternoon and slow down RH recovery overnight,
especially the higher you are in elevation. Otherwise, today will
be pleasant with highs in the 70s to low 80s inland, 60s along the
coast. Overnight lows in the northern North Bay will be in the
upper 50s to near 60 with the thermal belt in place above
approximately 1000ft, which is 15-20 degrees above normal. The
rest of our area will still see a mild overnight with lows around
10 degrees above normal, mostly int he mid-50s with some cooler
valley temps in the upper 40s.
Friday will be the first day of a gradual warm-up through the
weekend, with highs tomorrow in the mid-70s to low 80s, across the
interior, even warmer in souther Monterey County but still within
Minor HeatRisk. Many coastal area will climb into the low 70s with
a building ridge, surface high pressure with light and variable
winds.

.LONG TERM...
Issued at 1022 AM PDT Thu Mar 26 2026
(Friday night through next Wednesday)
Our area will mostly remain under the influence of the persistent
ridging pattern we`ve seen the past week or two with relatively
strong zonal flow acting on the apex of the ridge. We`ll see
temperatures gradually increase Saturday and once again Sunday,
back up to 15-20 degrees above normal for most interior spots
and warmer along the coast with continued light winds.
A pattern change begins to take shape Monday through the remainder
of the forecast period, with a return of more robust onshore flow,
an increasing marine layer and cooler temps. The signal for mostly
beneficial wetting rains remains in the forecast, however
differences in deterministic guidance persist lowering confidence
in exact timing and potential rainfall amounts. For now the
official forecast favors the North Bay and coastal ranges with
onset as early as late Monday night with more widespread coverage
later Tuesday into Wednesday.

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1106 AM PDT Thu Mar 26 2026
VFR through the TAF period with passing high clouds. Weak
offshore flow this morning will become northwesterly by early
afternoon across most terminals, especially at coastal/coastal
adjacent locations. However, the terminals across the North Bay
may experience offshore flow throughout the day. Winds are then
forecast to weaken overnight before returning to offshore early
Friday morning. There is a low-to-moderate potential for wind
shear across the North Bay late this evening and into early Friday
morning as north-northeasterly prevails aloft. Winds are forecast
to be weaker Friday afternoon.
Vicinity of SFO...VFR. Northwesterly winds are forecast to
increase this afternoon and evening before easing late in the
night. Winds then shift to more northeasterly by Friday morning.
SFO Bridge Approach...Similar to SFO.
Monterey Bay Terminals...VFR. Light and variable winds becoming
northwesterly by late morning or early afternoon. Winds diminish
and become light easterly to southeasterly tonight and Friday
morning.
&&
.MARINE...
(Today through Tuesday)
Issued at 1022 AM PDT Thu Mar 26 2026
Northern outer waters will continue to see northwesterly gales
through the remainder of today and begin to gradually ease this
evening. Rough seas will persist today, especially over the outer
waters but also begin to ease later tonight into Friday.
Relatively light onshore winds develop Friday into the weekend,
with weather expected to develop through the middle of next week.
